Sponsor a sign on tournament day for only $100. A great way to promote your business or organization while supporting the Peter Robinson Fund.
Don’t be afraid to get creative as Jerry Doucette & Lisa Bognar have done the past few years with their sign. It’s hard not to think of Peter and smile when you see their sign “When you remember Peter smile… he always did”.
Silent Auction Item
Do you have an item that is ‘Auction Worthy’? Why not donate it to our Silent Auction. Whether it be a tangible item, a certificate, services, or a gift card for you or your friend’s business, it would be appreciated.
In the past we have had golf clubs, motorcycle helmets, gift cards, tools, spa certificates, even lessons for paddle boarding! You can even be creative. Do you have a boat, motorcycle or a sled? What about offering up a day or even a couple hours and take a guest or two with you?
For any donations valued over $100, we will create a hole sponsor sign which will be displayed on the course during the tournament.
Pie Auction
Peter was famous (or is it infamous?) as the Vasey Pie Auction guy. It started many years ago when he started an impromptu auction at a church yard sale to sell off the last 2 or 3 pies. Shortly thereafter he broke out the auctioneer humour again when there were leftover pies from a Beef Supper. After such a positive response it was decided that they would have an annual dinner and pie auction and the rest is history!
It’s been said that people came for the entertainment more than the pie itself. So of course our tournament wouldn’t be complete without a pie auction in his memory, even if it is now silent.
The lovely ladies at Unity United Church in Vasey, along with some of their friends, have been generously donating pies for the auction the last two years but I am sure they wouldn’t mind an extra hand with a pie.
Team Prize
This year we have decided that instead of a prize table, we will just have a small giveaway to all the golfers and have some individual team prizes. The team prizes will be in groups of 4 and as some teams will be co-ed, we are looking for non-gender specific prizes.
Gift cards might be a great option for this although I am always happy to see someone being creative. I was pretty happy about winning a package of steaks at the Oom Pa Pa Curling Tournament this year… hint hint.
Longest Drive Prize & Closest to the Hole
No golf tournament would be complete without a Longest Drive and Closest to the
Pin prize. We will have one of each for both the women and the men.

Specialty Holes
We have been having so much fun with our ‘special’ holes the last 2 years! We putted with a goalie stick at Orr Lake, and used our clubs (or the flag stick) to putt at Bonaire and ran a case race. Do you know that Peter loved doing case races? He loved Vasey Field Days – especially when they coincided with his birthday as they often did. Teams would choose 3 kids from the team to run the bases as fast as they could in a relay (for some reason Peter was never one of the runners haha). Whichever team had the fastest time won a cooler of cold pop. As the teams got a bit older and the tournaments changed, pop became “POP” and that upped the competitiveness. Thanks to the Vasey Countrymen for bringing back a golf version of the case race in 2018, it sure brought back memories.
Many people have commented on how much fun these holes were and how they would love to see more of them, so feel free to bring your ideas. Some could have prizes associated with them but they don’t need to. One of the ideas I’ve heard was to have a Pizza Hole where an open pizza box was placed somewhere on the fairway and whoever hits a ball that lands in the box writes their name on the box. At the end of the game we draw from the names on the box to win a gift card for a pizza. So if anyone would like to donate a gift card for pizza that would be awesome.
